Volunteer Visiting Programs

Our Multicultural Volunteer Visiting Program is for seniors living in their own homes or in aged care facilities, and either experiencing or are at risk of experiencing social isolation.

Do you need a friend who can speak your language?

A volunteer can visit you wherever you are, at home or in a residential care facility. They can visit you at least once in a fortnight, at a regular time that suits you – for free.

Volunteers speak many languages and come from different cultural backgrounds.

They are trained and carefully matched to clients based on their interests, hobbies, background and availability. They must have a current police check and are supported by our organisation.

You might enjoy just chatting over a cup of tea, or a short walk. Almost any kind of activity can be a part of the visit – it’s up to you and your volunteer.

How often are the visits?

Our Volunteers visit clients who are living at home and in a residential care facility at least once a fortnight.

Volunteer for our visiting program!

We are always looking for volunteers over the age of 18 for confidential one-to-one companionship and friendship with seniors.

The program involves a commitment to 1 visit per fortnight, in a person’s home or in a nursing home.

Opportunities are available throughout the Melbourne metropolitan area.

AMCS provides training and networking opportunities including a calendar of social outings.

Volunteering for AMCS means being part of a great team, sharing skills and making a positive difference to people’s lives. We’ve also got a range of other volunteering opportunities available.
