One of the benefits of working for a NFP that supports seniors, is that you get to meet some great people. I was recently invited to visit a home by a lovely gentleman called Rocco, who is one of our seniors receiving support through a Home Care Package. Rocco told me of his garden and after my showing some interest, he suggested I visit and take some photos. The sun was shining and I decided it was a great opportunity and I would meet him later that afternoon.
Rocco first came to AMCS for services after being told by one of his friends about the sort of assistance we can provide. He was in need of support with transport and cutting the lawns.
Rocco has an extremely positive attitude, a weapon he uses well as he battles three different sorts of Cancer. Rocco has created a very rich life in Australia since migrating in 1951. He has 5 children, 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
That afternoon I ventured to Keilor Downs to meet up with Rocco and take some photos of his garden. I will let the photos do the talking, but it was truly a garden to be proud of.
I would like to pass on a big thank you to Rocco for sharing his garden with us, and for the very generous offer for me to stop and eat his homemade Parmigiana with him.
