Senior Wisdom and the Mobile Information Hub – SWAMIH Project

AMCS received a 2019 RACV Community Foundation grant to implement the Senior Wisdom and Social Isolation Hub (SWAMIH) Project. This project aims to engage CALD seniors with their community, share their wisdom, diminish social isolation and enhance intergenerational understanding to challenge ageism.

Through this project, AMCS will develop and implement a program of ‘Park Bench’ conversations between seniors and community members, including young people and students, to enhance meaningful connections and minimise loneliness. The project also resources our ‘Mobile Information Hub’, which provides CALD seniors with access to information on available services and other resources that are vital to their health, wellbeing and decision making.

*Due to COVID19, face to face activities have been put on hold, however the team have been putting together creative Entertainment Packs available in English, Arabic, Polish, Italian and Spanish as well as organising other remote activities to engage seniors in the safety of their own homes.
