AMCS is offering a free new program for seniors called Moving for Life – the Way I Like It.
Moving for Life is designed to increase the physical activity levels of older Australians, through a range of accessible activities and gentle exercises. It promotes healthy, active ageing in a fun and interactive environment. Classes encourage seniors to meet new people and make friends while increasing their physical stamina.
On offer is a wide range of group-based activities for ethnic senior community groups and clubs, to suit most interests and abilities. They include both structured exercise programs and community-based programs such as bush walking. Exercises can be individually tailored to each participant’s health needs and fitness levels. Seniors can choose programs the way they like it.
AMCS would like to support those who have limited or no funding to engage members in physical activities. Please contact us for more information. The program also provides free No Falls training for community leaders, aged care staff, volunteers and carers, supporting seniors to be more able and more stable.
Regular physical exercise is an important part of healthy ageing. It’s never too late to become physically active. Moving for Life activities can cater to all abilities.
