30 hours of information and mentoring, free.

What’s on offer?

This is a unique opportunity if you are interested in commencing a career in one of the fastest growing industries in Australia, aged care.

Six weeks x5 hour sessions will be run during business hours, after hours and on Saturday afternoons.
Sessions can be arranged anywhere in the Western Region of Melbourne.

Sessions include:
Week 1 – Overview of job opportunities in the home and disability industry. What qualifications are required and what employers look for when they advertise administrative and rostering, care coordination and case management vacancies

Week 2 – Overview of the home and disability services in the current context

Week 3 – What are the required and desirable skills, knowledge and attributes to work in aged care?

Week 4 – Hands on practical learning/mentoring using home care and disability program guidelines

Week 5 – Pre-accredited and accredited course opportunities in the home and disability industry, with educational pathways explained

Week 6 – Overview of work placement’s experience, developing skills in writing resumes/cover letters to meet the requirements in the aged care industry

Plus, one week work experience, including 5 hours of shadowing an industry professional/mentor.
