Our Wantirna AMCS Day Center Respite Program seniors graced the stage at a charity concert and stood arm to arm alongside known artists, actors and singers. Their efforts helped raise $12,500 for treatment and rehabilitation of a small boy named Dominic who lives in Poland. The charity concert ‘For Dominik’ was held on a Sunday afternoon October 2 in the Polish House ‘Syrena’ in Rowville.

In front of a completely full audience, our singing seniors performed their favourite song, ‘Always Smile’. Emotions were then sparked when the crowd heard them perform a nostalgic song called ‘Polish Flowers’. The performance finished with a funny folk song ‘Kukułeczko where were you last’, to which the audience happily joined in.

The enthusiastic performance featured Mr Roman Syrek (guest) on accordion and was accompanied by the Respite Team Leader, Marek Smalec, on guitar.

It was not the first public appearance for our singing seniors, who are also recognised as ‘Happy Seniors’. Earlier this year they had the opportunity to perform at the Box Hill Town Hall and the Doncaster City Council during meetings for seniors. However, their presence at the charity concert in Rowville had particular importance for them as it was a beautiful fundraising event for little Dominic.
