Last Sunday, AMCS attended the 26th Anatolian Alevi Festival in Coburg Lake Reserve. It was a great opportunity to speak to seniors in the Turkish community and members of the Alevi Community Council of Australia, experience Turkish culture, food and the Turkish kahve (coffee).

It was also an occasion to talk with the committee members about our new project, SWAMIH – Sharing Wisdom, and how we could support seniors in the Turkish community.

The SWAMIH project values the experience and wisdom that seniors have to offer and encourages them to share this with the younger generation.

We sincerely thank the RACV Community Foundation for supporting this project.

Please see the video to view the great cultural dancing from the Anatolian Alevi Festival!

In the first part of the video you will see everyone joining in what is known as the traditional Turkish dance of ‘halay’ – what a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
