English Language Classes

New 2012 classes available

AMCS currently offers English as a Second Language classes to the broader multicultural community. Classes currently operate in the Eastern Metropolitan Region (Ringwood) and at our Maidstone office in the Western Region. Current classes focus on Beginner to Intermediate level English. Classes with particular themes can be considered if there is enough interest. We are also flexible about the times classes can be offered. We are happy to explore optionss with employers and groups who want to improve their English. Call and discuss your particular needs.

Information about classes is currently available in Cantonese, Mandarin, Polish, Russian, Telugu & Vietnamese.

Computer Classes

New computer classes in 2012

Do you want to improve your skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to help with work and study requirements. In Term 1 & Term 2 we are offering a 10 week program to help better understanding  and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint. Basic computer skills required. The class is ideal for people wanting to combine improving their English with improving their computer skills. This class will operate on Wednesday evenings. The classes are delivered at our Maidstone office and are $40 per term.

Please note: ACFE funded ESL & Computer classes are targeted to those people wishing to develop their skills for work or study purposes.

Conversational English for Polish Seniors

Through the support of volunteer tutors, AMCS is able to offer senior members of the Polish community with the opportunity to continue to develop and maintain their English language skills. The class operates on Wednesday mornings at our Maidstone office.

Polish Senior Surfers Program

AMCS has been involved in a project through Vicnet at the State Library to deliver the Polish Senior Surfers Program. This program is supported by a group of bilingual volunteers who have undergone a Train the Trainer program to assist older members of the Polish community to learn to use computers and the internet. The program operates in 20 week blocks at our Maidstone office.

The program is very popular and has a waiting list.

Accredited Training - Registered Training Organisation

Australian Multicultural Community Services RTO (Registered Training Organisation) offers real-world training programs which can help you prepare for an exciting career in the shortest time possible!

 

Dual Certificate: Certificate III in Aged Care (CHC30208) and Certificate III in Home and Community Care (CHC30208)

 

The Certificate III in Aged Care is nationally recognized and provides students with the skills and knowledge to provide inclusive, non-judgmental services and programs to older people living in residential aged care services. Positions that can be held by someone with this qualification include:

  • Accommodation Support Worker
  • In Home Respite Worker  
  • Personal Care Assistant

The Certificate III in Home and Community Care is nationally recognised and provides students with the skills and knowledge to provide inclusive, non-judgemental services and programs to older people and younger people with disabilities living in their own homes and/or participating in community based groups. Positions that can be held by someone with this qualification include:

  • Community Support Worker
  • In Home Respite Worker
  • Personal Care Assistant
  • Planned Activity Assistant
  • Nursing Assistant
  • Disability Service Worker
  • Field Officer

Cost: $1250 or $400 if eligible for government funding
